Architect's Profile

Positive Space Architects is owned and run by Howard Butt, a Chartered Architect living and working in Edinburgh. Howard trained at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh College of Art.

Howard has worked in Edinburgh since 1999 at a number of architectural practices where he gained experience on projects in a variety of sectors, from hospitals, retail and colleges. Before establishing his own practice, Howard worked extensively as part of a team on residential projects including Quartermile - the conversion of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in the old town into high specification apartments and other medium and large scale residential  schemes.

Since establishing Positive Space Architects, Howard has build up a portfolio of residential projects including one-off extensions, alterations and refurbishments for private clients in and around Edinburgh. These have included built proposals for Grade A, B and C listed dwellings. Howard has also completed schemes for the retail sector.

Howard is regulated by the Architects Registration Board
He is also a chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects
an Associate of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland
